Job summary

Prospect Health is seeking an Optical Manager in Taunton for a full-time role (45 hours per week), leading the optical department and a team of Optometrists and Optical Assistants. You will manage day-to-day operations, recruitment, development and performance, and maintain high patient care standards.

The role offers a salary between £55,500 and £69,350 depending on experience, a discretionary bonus, pension, and extensive benefits.

We're currently recruiting for a qualified Dispensing Optician to join a well-established and forward-thinking optical team as an Optical Manager in the Taunton area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced optical professional looking to take the next step in their career, with responsibility for leading a team, managing the day-to-day operation and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing and managing the day-to-day operation of the optical departmentLeading and managing a team of Optometrists and Optical AssistantsSupporting recruitment, development and performance managementOverseeing compliance processes and proceduresManaging sales forecasting and departmental targetsHandling customer queries and ensuring a high standard of patient careManaging clinic operations and shop floor processesEnsuring the department is well equipped to meet customer needsWorking closely with the Optometrist to coach and develop the wider teamMaintaining high clinical, operational and customer service standards

You’ll have access to wider support from Home Office and Area Manager teams, providing guidance across clinical, operational and business-related areas. You’ll also receive regular business updates and feedback to support your development in the role.
