Johnson Matthey Plc in Brimsdown is seeking an Operator I: Entry Level Operator to join our world‑leading metals group. You will contribute to safe operations, follow process instructions and help keep production on schedule to deliver high‑quality products.

The role suits candidates with GCSEs and/or A Levels, with no required prior experience; a background in chemical processing or manufacturing is desirable. We offer a supportive environment and opportunities for growth within JM.

Qualifications

• 4 GCSEs or equivalent at grades A*–C including English, Maths and Science (Essential)
• 2 A Levels or equivalent in engineering or science (Desirable)
• No prerequisite experience required, but previous experience in chemical process industry/engineering/manufacturing is desirable
• Understanding of large-scale complex manufacturing facilities/plants is desirable

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for your own safety and follow safe-working practices and PPE guidance
• Follow process documentation such as risk analyses, process instructions and standard work documents
• Support the operations team in executing operator activities and adhere to production schedules for on-time delivery of quality product
• Complete batch sheets and handovers to ensure continuous production
• Make suggestions for process improvements within area of responsibility

The role:

As an Operator I: Entry Level Operator, you will help drive our goals by:

• Taking responsibility for your own safety, complying with JMs safe working practices and following PPE direction and contributing to a healthy and safe working environment

• Follow all relevant process related documentation such as risk analysis, process instructions and standard work documents

• Supporting the operations team in the skilled execution of operator activities and adhering to the production schedule to ensure the on-time delivery of quality product

• Completing all necessary batch sheets and handovers to ensure continuous production

• Making suggestions for process improvements within area of responsibility

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role** :**

• A minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent, at Grade A* to C including English, Maths and Science - Essential
• A minimum of 2 ‘A’ Levels, or equivalent, in an engineering or science related subject - Desirable
• No prerequisite experience required but previous experience in the chemical process industry, engineering

and/or manufacturing - Desirable

• Understanding of large-scale complex manufacturing facilities/plants - Desirable
