Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a hands-on Sheet Metal Operative to join the department on a 38-hour week shift from 14:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday, in the Northampton area. You will break out punched steel parts, inspect quality before and after processes, and palletise with pump/stacker trucks.

The role requires practical capability, reading drawings when needed, and a flexible, team-focused attitude. Training will be provided for other duties as required.

Job description

As a member of the Sheet Metal department team, working on the 1400-2200 shift (38 hours/week) Monday to Friday, you will be responsible for breaking out punched parts of steel using appropriate equipment. Responsible for checking quality of parts before/after process. Palletising/moving product using pump/stacker trucks.

• You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
• Knowledge/use of punch machines is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to read drawings.
• Team player with a positive can-do attitude.
• Practical, hands on.
• Have good communication skills.
• Willing to work flexibly.
• Attention to good Housekeeping.

• A manual environment, lifting heavy equipment with magnetic hoists and chain/strap hoists.
