Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is hiring a Field Service Engineer in Derby. You will support our customers and products at Wabtec UK sites and customer locations, ensuring safety, efficiency and reliability across the service life cycle.

Your day includes responding to call-outs, diagnosing and repairing components, and returning trains to service with thorough testing. You will compile clear reports, manage workload independently, and maintain strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• The role requires ONC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong technical aptitude with proven fault-finding abilities.
• Significant hands-on experience in relevant technical areas (engines, diagnostics).
• Competent IT skills, particularly with MS Excel and laptop/tablet devices.
• Capable of compiling clear and accurate technical reports.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload independently.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Role: Field Service Engineer

Location: Derby

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference?

The key aim of the role is to conduct the required support for our customers and products at both Wabtec UK sites & customer locations. The Field Service Engineer is a key role to ensure that Wabtec UK products and services are meeting our customers’ expectations throughout their life cycle and our services are delivered in a safe, efficient, and consistent manner.

What will your typical day look like?
