Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in the United Kingdom is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead and manage projects, plan execution and control costs across a modern manufacturing facility.

You will create and maintain Manufacturing Routings, Layouts and work instructions, define and perform investigations into non-conformance using root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions in collaboration with Design, Quality, Procurement and suppliers.

Job description

  • Lead and manage projects within Manufacturing taking responsibility for delivery, project planning, execution and cost.
  • Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation to include Manufacturing Routings, Layouts and instructions.
  • Define, perform and implement investigations into non-conformance through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Inspection activities including the creation of non-conformance reports, in process and final inspection protocols.
  • Work cross functionally with different departments such as Design, Quality, Procurement and external suppliers.
  • Define and procure jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauging and lifting equipment.
  • Generate and implement cost reduction initiatives.
  • NC programming of multi-axis Turning, Milling, Grinding and EDM machines.
  • Programming of CMMs using PC-DMIS.

    Knowledge of modern machining and manufacturing processes, NC programming, ideally from a low-volume, high accuracy manufacturing environment e.g., Aerospace, Power Generation. Candidates must be highly motivated, be a good problem solver and be able to work both independently and in a team environment., Ideally you will be qualified to HNC level or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with having undergone relevant training as Manufacturing Technician/ Engineer
  • Experience in a modern manufacturing facility with a good understanding of modern machining techniques, plus problem solving techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Siemens NX (CAM) and Hypermill would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Computer/ software literate
