Wabtec operates a Northampton-based assembly site and seeks a Material Handler/ Forklift Operator to move radiators from the line to inspection, using forklift and company van when required. You will perform final visual checks and ensure secure handling of loads in a busy manufacturing environment.
The role requires a valid forklift license, a clean UK driving licence, and prior experience in manufacturing.
Bearward Engineering is a Northampton based firm manufacturing radiators for the power generation industry.
As a member of the Assembly department team, working on the 1400-2200 shift (38 hours/week) Monday to Friday, you will be responsible for transporting finished product using Company van/reach flt.
To safely transport industrial radiators from the assembly line to the inspection building using forklift and/or company van
Carry out a final visual and basic quality inspection to ensure only compliant products are passed forward to the inspection team
Operate forklift trucks and company vehicles safely
Transport finished radiators from assembly to inspection areas in line with production requirements
Ensure loads are secure and handled without damage
Follow site traffic routes, safety rules, and speed limits
Load and unload radiators carefully
Carry out visual inspection of radiators before transfer
Check for damage, missing parts, or quality concerns
Verify completion of route cards and documentation
Segregate non-conforming products
Report defects to production or quality teams
Ensure only acceptable products are passed to inspection
Maintain traceability through accurate documentation or scanning
Follow all quality procedures and work instructions
Operate equipment in line with site safety procedures
Carry out daily forklift and vehicle checks
Maintain awareness of pedestrians and hazards
Wear required PPE at all times
Report incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions
Valid forklift license
Clean UK drivers license
Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment
Basic understanding of visual inspection and defect identification
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Reliable and punctual
Safety-conscious attitude
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
