Job summary

The Oil and Pipelines Agency is seeking an experienced Trainer/Assessor in Operations to develop, implement, and deliver learning, training, assessment, and development activities across OPA sites, primarily in Scotland and Finnart Ocean Terminal. The role focuses on safety-critical tasks, competency assurance, and regulatory training within COMAH sites.

The successful candidate will coordinate apprenticeship programmes, support the Competence Assurance Manager and HR Director with CMS

Qualifications

• Experience in learning and development processes and regulatory training in Major Accident Hazard industries.
• Competence management systems and assessment techniques knowledge.
• Experience with apprenticeship programmes and CMS implementations.

Responsibilities

• Coach and coordinate Depot Assessors to standardise assessments and lead IQA processes.
• Support CMS implementation across facilities not yet engaged with the programme.
• Identify development opportunities after failed assessments and work with stakeholders to meet competency standards.
• Deliver in-house training and implement competence solutions.
• Measure training effectiveness and ROI; analyse feedback for continuous improvement.
• Communicate apprenticeship progress monthly/quarterly to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Operations, Asset Technical, Maintenance Engineering, and HR to align competency with business goals.
• Develop new procedures to improve training effectiveness; support capital development training needs.
• Assist Depot Managers in updating training materials, manuals, and operating procedures.
