Job summary

Astute People is seeking an Operations Technician to support an Energy from Waste plant in Worcestershire. You will operate the facility safely, monitor central control room systems, perform routine checks and logs, and report issues to keep the plant running smoothly.

The role requires rotating shifts, good IT literacy, and a proactive communicator who can work well in a team and follow safety procedures. Training and progression opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working shifts within a continuous process or industrial environment.
• Understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Good computer literacy with the ability to operate computer-based control and monitoring systems.
• Happy to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Experience in power generation, Energy from Waste, defence or similar operational environment would be advantageous.

Operations Technician

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit an Operations Technician to work at an Energy from Waste plant in Worcestershire.

The Operations Technician role comes with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will:

• Safely and efficiently operate the Energy from Waste facility in line with operational procedures
• Monitor and control plant operations from the central control room using computer-based control systems
• Carry out routine plant inspections, operational checks and testing to ensure equipment is operating correctly
• Monitor plant performance and identify any issues or abnormalities, escalating where required
• Monitor CCTV and site security systems as part of the safe and secure operation of the facility
• Record, analyse and report operational data accurately throughout the shift
• Raise work requests and report plant defects or maintenance requirements when identified
• Support emergency response procedures and follow operational instructions during incidents
• Monitor consumables and residue levels to help maintain continuous plant operation
• Complete accurate shift logs and detailed handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts

Professional qualifications

• Experience working shifts within a continuous process or industrial environment
• Experience within power generation, Energy from Waste, defence or a similar operational environment would be advantageous
• Understanding of industrial plant operations, safe working practices and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
• Good computer literacy with the ability to operate computer-based control and monitoring systems
• Happy to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays
