Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate the Energy from Waste facility safely and efficiently according to procedures.
• Monitor plant operations from the central control room.
• Carry out routine inspections, checks and testing on equipment.
• Record, analyse and report operational data throughout the shift.
• Raise work requests and report defects or maintenance needs.
• Support emergency response procedures and follow instructions during incidents.
• Monitor consumables and residue levels to maintain continuous operation.
• Complete accurate shift logs and handovers for effective communication.

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit an Operations Technician to work at an Energy from Waste plant in Worcestershire.

The Operations Technician role comes with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role

• Safely and efficiently operate the Energy from Waste facility in line with operational procedures
• Monitor and control plant operations from the central control room using computer-based control systems
• Carry out routine plant inspections, operational checks and testing to ensure equipment is operating correctly
• Monitor plant performance and identify any issues or abnormalities, escalating where required
• Monitor CCTV and site security systems as part of the safe and secure operation of the facility
• Record, analyse and report operational data accurately throughout the shift
• Raise work requests and report plant defects or maintenance requirements when identified
• Support emergency response procedures and follow operational instructions during incidents
• Monitor consumables and residue levels to help maintain continuous plant operation
• Complete accurate shift logs and detailed handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts

Professional qualifications

• Experience working shifts within a continuous process or industrial environment
• Experience within power generation, Energy from Waste, defence or a similar operational environment would be advantageous
• Understanding of industrial plant operations, safe working practices and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
• Good computer literacy with the ability to operate computer-based control and monitoring systems
• Happy to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays

• Calm and logical, with the ability to identify issues and make appropriate decisions
• Reliable and adaptable, with a flexible approach to working within a rotating shift team
• A strong communicator who can work effectively both independently and as part of a wider operational team
