Job summary

Astute People, in partnership with a leading energy provider, is recruiting an Operations Technician to operate an Energy from Waste plant in Worcestershire. The role includes monitoring central control room systems, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring safe, continuous plant operation.

The successful candidate will work in a rotating shift pattern, maintain accurate records, and support emergency procedures while contributing to long-term improvement and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience working shifts within a continuous process or industrial environment.
• Understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Good computer literacy to operate control and monitoring systems.
• Willing to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate the Energy from Waste facility.
• Monitor and control plant operations from the central control room.
• Carry out routine inspections, checks and testing of equipment.
• Monitor plant performance and escalate issues as required.
• Record, analyse and report operational data throughout the shift.
• Raise work requests and report defects or maintenance needs.
• Support emergency response procedures during incidents.
• Complete shift logs and handovers for effective communication.
