Job summary

Astute People, in partnership with a leading energy provider, is recruiting an Operations Technician to operate an Energy from Waste plant in Worcestershire. The role includes monitoring central control room systems, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring safe, continuous plant operation.

The successful candidate will work in a rotating shift pattern, maintain accurate records, and support emergency procedures while contributing to long-term improvement and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience working shifts within a continuous process or industrial environment.
• Understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Good computer literacy to operate control and monitoring systems.
• Willing to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit an Operations Technician to work at an Energy from Waste plant in Worcestershire.

The Operations Technician role comes with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role

Reporting To The Shift Team Leader You Will

• Safely and efficiently operate the Energy from Waste facility in line with operational procedures
• Monitor and control plant operations from the central control room using computer-based control systems
• Carry out routine plant inspections, operational checks and testing to ensure equipment is operating correctly
• Monitor plant performance and identify any issues or abnormalities, escalating where required
• Monitor CCTV and site security systems as part of the safe and secure operation of the facility
• Record, analyse and report operational data accurately throughout the shift
• Raise work requests and report plant defects or maintenance requirements when identified
• Support emergency response procedures and follow operational instructions during incidents
• Monitor consumables and residue levels to help maintain continuous plant operation
• Complete accurate shift logs and detailed handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts

Professional Qualifications

• Experience working shifts within a continuous process or industrial environment
• Experience within power generation, Energy from Waste, defence or a similar operational environment would be advantageous
• Understanding of industrial plant operations, safe working practices and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
• Good computer literacy with the ability to operate computer-based control and monitoring systems
• Happy to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays
