Job summary

Astute People is recruiting an Operations Manager for an Energy from Waste Power Station in Atherstone, Warwickshire. The role leads safe, efficient plant operations and day-to-day staff management, reporting to the Plant Manager.

The successful candidate will have engineering qualifications (HNC or similar) and health & safety credentials, with experience in heavy process environments and contract/budget oversight. Competitive package with bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

• Ideally an HNC in mechanical/electrical/controls instrumentation.
• Ideally a formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
• HV Senior Authorised Person will be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• The day-to-day management of operations staff including shift teams and operations day staff.
• Ensuring the facility operates and complies within environmental regulations at all times.
• Liaising with the Maintenance Manager and other relevant personnel regarding projects maintenance, outages, and programming of plant improvements.
• Overseeing 3rd party contractors.
• Preparing the annual budget for the operations department for review and work within this budget.
• Liaising with company directors and managers as well as external stakeholders.
• Deputising for the Plant Manager in times of absence.

Astute's Power team is partnered with global engineering company to recruit an Operations Manager for their Energy from Waste Power Station in Atherstone, Warwickshire.

The vital Operations Manager role comes with a salary of c.£65,000 + Bonus + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Operations Manager role

Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for:

• Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the plant
• The day-to-day management of operations staff including shift teams and operations day staff
• Ensuring the facility operates and complies within environmental regulations at all times
• Liaising with the Maintenance Manager and other relevant personnel regarding projects maintenance, outages, and programming of plant improvements
• Overseeing 3rd party contractors
• Preparing the annual budget for the operations department for review and work within this budget
• Liaising with company directors and managers as well as external stakeholders
• Deputising for the Plant Manager in times of absence

Professional qualifications

• Ideally having a HNC minimum qualification in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation, etc
• Ideally a formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
• HV Senior Authorised Person will be highly desirable

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

• Supervisory or management experience in an operations role on a power station or similar heavy process environment such as Power Generation (EfW, Biomass, CCGT, Coal, etc), Paper Mills, Refineries, Petrochemical, etc.
• Prior experience of contract management and budget responsibility
• Good leadership experience and proven ability to lead large teams
