Job summary

DHL is seeking an Operations Manager in Tamworth (Hybrid) to lead a high-profile customer operation. You will drive performance, build strong customer relationships and lead a high-performing team on a key contract.

Role involves partnering with carriers and DHL entities, managing KPIs, and delivering value through process improvements. A focus on compliance and excellent service across multi-modal logistics is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in international air freight operations.
• Experience in multi-modal transport operations (Courier, Road, Air & Sea) and freight forwarding.
• Proven supervisory or management experience within a logistics environment.
• Customer relationship management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Cultural awareness due to interaction with providers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong partnerships with carriers and service providers, driving performance, compliance, and long-term supply chain success.
• Liaising directly with DHL entities, such as DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express around international air freight requirements.
• Lead carrier performance management through KPI monitoring, service reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to exceed customer expectations.
• Act as the key operational escalation point, ensuring the timely resolution of issues while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
• Develop trusted relationships with customers at all levels, presenting operational solutions and recommendations with professionalism and commercial awareness.
• Lead, coach, and motivate operational and administrative teams, fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, and high performance.
• Drive productivity, cost control, and process improvement initiatives through data analysis, forecasting, and the implementation of innovative supply chain solutions.
• Support the design, validation, and implementation of transport and logistics solutions, working closely with customers, finance, carriers, and internal stakeholders to deliver value and profitability.
• Ensure full compliance with corporate, legislative, and operational standards, promoting best practice, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the account.

Shift patterns: Monday-Friday. Day time hours (08:00-16:30/08:30-17:00)
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Previous International Air freight experience is essential
• Experience in multi modal transport operations (Courier, Road, Air & Sea), freight forwarding - DGF / Express / Freight
• Proven supervisory or management experience within a logistics environment
• Customer relationship management skills
• Excellent communication skills - Verbal and written
• Demonstrable record of service improvement through innovation and delivery of Value Creation opportunities
• Cultural awareness - will be dealing with providers from / in all over the world
