Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Tamworth is seeking an Operations Manager on a hybrid basis. You will lead a high-profile customer operation, drive performance, build strong relationships, and coach a high-performing team on a key contract.

Your typical day includes coordinating with carriers and service providers, monitoring KPIs, leading improvement initiatives, resolving escalations, and ensuring compliance with standards and safety while delivering value and profitability for the client.

Qualifications

• International air freight experience is essential.
• Experience in multi modal transport operations (Courier, Road, Air & Sea).
• Proven supervisory or management experience within a logistics environment.
• Customer relationship management skills required.
• Excellent communication skills - Verbal and written.
• Demonstrable record of service improvement through innovation and delivery of Value Creation opportunities.
• Cultural awareness - dealing with providers globally.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain partnerships with carriers and service providers to drive performance and compliance.
• Liaise with DHL entities on international air freight requirements.
• Lead carrier performance management through KPI monitoring and reviews.
• Act as the operational escalation point ensuring timely resolution while maintaining service standards.
• Develop trusted relationships with customers and present operational recommendations.
• Lead, coach and motivate operational and administrative teams.
• Drive productivity, cost control and process improvements through data analysis.

Location: Tamworth (Hybrid)

Grade: RCS. L

Shift patterns: Monday-Friday. Day time hours (08:00-16:30/08:30-17:00)

Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Build and maintain strong partnerships with carriers and service providers, driving performance, compliance, and long-term supply chain success
• Liaising directly with DHL entities, such as DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express around international air freight requirements
• Lead carrier performance management through KPI monitoring, service reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to exceed customer expectations
• Act as the key operational escalation point, ensuring the timely resolution of issues while maintaining exceptional customer service standards
• Develop trusted relationships with customers at all levels, presenting operational solutions and recommendations with professionalism and commercial awareness
• Lead, coach, and motivate operational and administrative teams, fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, and high performance
• Drive productivity, cost control, and process improvement initiatives through data analysis, forecasting, and the implementation of innovative supply chain solutions
• Support the design, validation, and implementation of transport and logistics solutions, working closely with customers, finance, carriers, and internal stakeholders to deliver value and profitability
• Ensure full compliance with corporate, legislative, and operational standards, promoting best practice, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the account
