Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Wednesbury is seeking a Transport First Line Manager to help build and lead a brand-new operation. You will oversee day-to-day transport activity, coach a growing team, and ensure safe, compliant delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as First Line Manager or similar in transport.
• CPC holder is desirable but not essential.
• Knowledge of Tachomaster and Microlise is a plus.
• Strong understanding of driving rules and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to coach and develop teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the Transport team to deliver a safe, engaged and high-performing operation.
• Ensure transport activities are completed safely, legally and in line with SLA, KPI and compliance requirements.
• Manage day-to-day transport operations, resolving issues quickly and effectively.
• Act as the first point of contact for driver and colleague queries, supporting absence, performance, investigations and wellbeing.
• Drive colleague engagement through EOS action plans, regular communication and driver forums.
• Maintain compliance across all transport systems (Microlise and Tachomaster), processes, Health & Safety and OMS standards.
• Deliver team member performance reviews (1-2-1's), development and/or succession planning, providing coaching as appropriate.
• Work closely with the wider management team to deliver operational excellence and a strong "one team" culture.

Shift patterns: Monday-Friday. Day time hours
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

WHAT YOU'LL DO

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Previous Transport management experience at First Line Manager, Team Leader, Supervisor level, is essential
• Previous Transport planning experience would be desirable
• CPC holder would be desirable, but not essential
• Strong understanding of driving rules and regulations
• Excellent communication skills - Verbal and written
• Exposure to Tachomaster and Microlise systems
• Proven interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills
• Able to challenge in the right way and influence decisions
