We help young people to build a lifelong belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had. When you prove yourself ready for anything, nothing can hold you back.
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing a team of geographically dispersed Operations Officers to support the operational delivery and development of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) across Scotland.
Operations Officers directly support a variety of Licensed Organisations (LOs), mainly schools, but also colleges, local authorities, charities, pupil referral units, youth groups, and young offender institutions. The Operations Manager role involves managing, coaching, and supporting Operations Officers, building strong partnerships to increase DofE’s engagement across communities in Scotland.
As part of the DofE country team, our focus is on building capacity within licensed organisations to support more young people and on identifying and stewarding partnerships within local communities to increase engagement, especially among communities facing barriers to participation. Line managed by the Senior Operations Manager, the Operations Manager is an active member of the Scotland Leadership Team, responsible for developing and delivering the Scotland business plan and strategy in line with UK and national goals.
The role will be field-based; when not attending meetings, employees will work from home. You will need an appropriate home office setup and to live within Scotland.
We seek a dynamic, proactive, and effective team player with extensive people management experience to join the Scotland team. You will report to the Senior Operations Manager and oversee the daily management of your Operations team and the delivery of the DofE Scotland business plan. The role also involves contributing to national working groups to support strategic goals.
You should be a passionate advocate for DofE, driven to help us reach our goal of giving over one million young people the chance to participate in our life-changing programmes over the next five years.
