Job summary

Veolia in Basingstoke is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Supervisor to drive compliant, safe, and efficient waste and energy operations. You will oversee day-to-day activities and ensure environmental permits are met, reporting to the Operations Manager.

The role offers training, pension, a generous leave allowance, and health resources, with 40-hour weeks and shift flexibility.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of regulatory and health & safety requirements.
• Experience in industrial environments, preferably with continuous process operations.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Competency operating (or ability to train on) mobile equipment and fixed plant.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns.
• Self-motivated with a flexible mindset.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day compliance with the Environmental Permit and report non-compliance or incidents to the Operations Manager.
• Oversee daily activities in the Tipping Hall and related areas to maintain operational efficiency.
• Supervise O&M staff in the safe, cost-effective operation of the ERF within procedures and in emergencies.
• Manage reception/disposal of waste and ensure compliance with company procedures by vehicles and drivers on-site.
• Ensure O&M staff operate refuse cranes, mobile plant, weighbridge and other equipment as required.
• Work within Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems and relevant legislation.
• Assist other company staff and contractors as required.
