Job summary

Veolia in Basingstoke is recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Supervisor. You’ll work 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, with early or late shifts between 05:30 and 17:00.

Salary £36,675.14 per year plus Veolia benefits. The role focuses on supervising day‑to‑day compliance with the Environmental Permit, overseeing the Tipping Hall and ERF operations, and ensuring safe waste reception and disposal on site.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of regulatory and health & safety requirements.
• Engineering role experience (ideally).
• Relevant qualifications for the position.
• Proven experience in industrial environments, preferably with continuous process operations.
• Competency operating (or ability to train on) mobile equipment and fixed plant.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns.
• Self-motivated with a flexible mindset.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day compliance with the Environmental Permit, reporting any non-compliance or incident to the Operations Manager
• Supervise daily activities in the Tipping Hall and associated areas ensuring O&MAs are employed accordingly to maintain optimal operational efficiency
• Supervise O&MAs in the cost effective, safe and efficient operation of the ERF within all operational procedures and also in emergency situations
• Supervise the reception / disposal of waste and ensure compliance with Company Procedures by all vehicles / drivers while on site
• Ensure O&MAs available to operate refuse cranes, mobile plant, weighbridge and other equipment as required by the operational demands of the ERF
• Work within the company's Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System and all relevant legislation
• Assist other Company staff and contractors as required
• Carry out other reasonable tasks and duties as requested by management
