Job summary

E3 Recruitment client is a leading UK HGV rental business seeking an Operations Manager with rental and fleet experience to oversee a busy HGV rental site of 250+ vehicles, with expansion plans toward 450. You will work with senior management and the sales, fleet and workshop teams to ensure the right vehicles are available at the right time, balancing demand, capacity and commercial performance.

Qualifications

• Previous management experience within HGV or commercial-vehicle rental.
• Rental-sector experience with heavy or light commercial vehicles.
• Knowledge of fleet planning and vehicle utilisation.
• Experience leading an operational team with clear performance targets.
• Knowledge of transport legislation and vehicle compliance.
• Calm, decisive under pressure with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily performance and coordination of the rental department.
• Plan fleet expansion from 250 to 450 vehicles.
• Review existing practices and introduce systems and standards for growth.
• Maintain accurate information on available, hired, reserved and unavailable vehicles.
• Forecast customer requirements and plan fleet capacity.
• Improve vehicle preparation and turnaround between rental periods.
• Coordinate with workshop for inspections, servicing and availability.
• Oversee end-to-end rental process from enquiry to off-hire.
• Allocate work and provide training and feedback to staff.
• Use performance data to improve revenue and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, safety and regulatory requirements.
