About the Role

The Newspaper Operations team is responsible for leading the operational planning, production, and timely distribution of our printed titles. We focus on innovative, collaborative planning and delivery, improving processes through technology and talent to make our print operations smarter.

This is an exciting, challenging role requiring high attention to detail. The position involves imaging responsibilities, working 37.5 hours per week over 4 days on a fully flexible rota covering 7 days, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Color correcting and creating cutouts of images for newspapers and magazines.
• Transmitting magazine pages to printers.
• Correcting images for POS posters, banners, and promotional materials.
• Proofing images for editorial approval.
• Advising designers on image quality and providing guidance.
• Occasional out-of-hours work in a standalone role.
• Handling transmission and planning with accuracy and efficiency.

Skills Required

• Advanced Photoshop retouching skills for print production.
• Proficiency in handling and basic picture production cutouts in Photoshop.
• Intermediate knowledge of print publishing for newspapers and magazines.
• Ability to work late shifts, including weekdays and weekends.
• Intermediate skills in colour reproduction and management.
• Problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience in a deadline-driven environment with shift work.
• Core functional expertise relevant to the role's complexity.
• Supportive and advisory skills for colleagues and clients.
• Confidence to work out of hours independently.
