Job summary

Serco is recruiting a Prison Support Officer at HMP Dovegate, Uttoxeter. You will work across security gate, visits, escorting prisoners, and provide administrative and communications support to keep the prison running smoothly.

The role offers full training, on-site parking, discounted meals, pension match up to 6%, annual leave and access to staff facilities. The environment is inclusive with development pathways to higher grades.

Prison Support Officer

HMP Dovegate, Uttoxeter

40 hours per week

£25,889 per annum

HMP Dovegate is a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.

What you will need to do the role:

• You should have great communications skills and a good educational level in English and Maths as report writing, and numerical abilities are a key part of the role.
• We are ideally looking for candidates who have experience working within a vehicle-related sector, outdoor work environments, or roles that involve regular walking or physical activity. Examples of suitable backgrounds include:
  • Vehicle inspection, transport, logistics, or recovery work
  • Outdoor operational roles
  • Roles involving consistent walking or movement
  • Parcel sorting or delivery positions
  • Any job where candidates are used to being on their feet, working outdoors, and managing physical tasks
