This is an exciting time to join the Climate, Sustainability & Environmental Services Team as Operational Support Manager and play a key role in making Hackney cleaner, safer and greener. Based at our Millfields Depot you will lead Operational Support Services (OSS), who are responsible for the delivery of administrative support to Environmental Services and executive support to senior management. Operational Support Services are also responsible for supporting the on-going development of the Environmental Services, marrying up innovation and technology with smooth and efficient front-line services. These services include waste collections, waste transfer station operations, estate and street cleansing, service requests and complaints.
The Operational Support Manager will also work closely with the Policy and Systems Development Team on the development and expansion of IT systems and processes across the workforce to modernise the service, and to efficiently manage service data, including the day-to-day training and support of operational staff on incab/mobile technology.
The successful candidate will therefore need to be very adept at learning and understanding a large variety of waste and environment related processes, and in time be able to identify process improvements and efficiency savings. They will be an expert communicator, able to investigate complex complaints and requests for information, and to compile this information into accurate and nuanced complaint responses.
Experience of managing an administration team is essential, ideally in the waste industry or local authority setting. Previous experience undertaking complex complaint investigations and providing responses is also essential, and the successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate a track record of using technology and developing administrative systems.
