Job summary

DSV - Global Transport and Logistics in Belfast is seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Air & Sea Freight operations, develop operational teams, ensure excellent service delivery and align with business objectives.

This role suits experienced freight forwarding professionals or team leaders ready to step up, with a focus on performance, customer service and collaboration with customers and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Recent freight forwarding experience, including within the last 12 months.
• Experience in Air and/or Sea Freight Forwarding operations.
• Experience leading operational teams within freight/logistics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate Air & Sea Freight teams to meet operational and service targets.
• Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Manage customer service performance and build strong client relationships.
• Ensure compliance with customer SOPs, SLAs and DSV procedures.
• Monitor performance and deliver against key KPIs.
• Develop team capability through coaching, training and performance management.
• Hold regular team meetings to review performance and priorities.
• Foster collaboration, accountability and continuous learning.
• Work with customers, colleagues and senior stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver outcomes.
• Support achievement of commercial and operational objectives for Belfast operation.

DSV are currently looking for an Operations Manager to be based in our Belfast office and lead our Air & Sea Freight operations in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing our operational teams, ensuring excellent service delivery, customer satisfaction and achievement of business objectives.

You will play a key role in driving operational performance, developing team capability and working closely with customers and senior stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

You don't necessarily need to already hold the title of Operations Manager. We would also welcome applications from experienced freight forwarding Team Leaders or Supervisors who can demonstrate the leadership, operational knowledge and commercial awareness required to take the next step in their career.

What will you be doing?

About You

• Recent experience working within the freight forwarding industry, including experience gained within the last 12 months, is essential.
• Proven experience within Air and/or Sea Freight Forwarding operations.
• Experience using CargoWise One is desirable.
• Previous experience leading, supervising or developing operational teams within a freight forwarding or logistics environment.
• Strong operational management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues and senior stakeholders.
• Good commercial awareness with a strong focus on operational performance, customer service and results.
• The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritising workloads and responding positively to operational challenges.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience managing and working to KPIs, SOPs and SLAs is desirable.
• A full UK driving licence.
