Job summary

Practice Plus Group Hospital Ilford is seeking an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join a multidisciplinary theatre team. You will work across anaesthetics, scrub and recovery to deliver safe perioperative care and support a proactive, patient-centred environment.

We value HCPC or NMC registration, strong communication, and the ability to thrive in a busy, collaborative setting. The role includes teaching, governance activities, and opportunities to influence service quality.

Qualifications

  • HCPC or NMC registered practitioner.
  • Minimum 2 years' UK post-qualification experience across anaesthetics, scrub and PACU.
  • Strong communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary theatre team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care within the perioperative environment.
  • Rotate across Anaesthetics, Scrub and Recovery as required.
  • Prepare and check theatre and anaesthetic environments for daily operating lists.
  • Support patient transfers, handovers and clinical documentation.
  • Monitor equipment, stock levels and consumables to ensure safe practice.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing colleagues and wider teams.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
  • Participate in theatre safety checks, stock takes and governance activities.
  • Support students and colleagues through supervision and teaching opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and current legislation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an HCPC or NMC registered practitioner who is passionate about perioperative care and enjoys working across anaesthetics, scrub and recovery. You'll be part of a supportive team focused on delivering safe, high-quality care for every patient, every day.

As our Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), you will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey. Working as part of the theatre team, you will ensure the highest standards of patient safety, comfort and care while contributing to the efficient running of theatre services.

What you'll be doing
  • Delivering high-quality patient care within the perioperative environment.

What we will look for in you
  • Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification UK experience across Anaesthetics, Scrub and PACU.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Experience maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • A flexible and positive approach to work.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Awareness of clinical governance and commitment to continuous professional development.

  • A salary of up to £48,500 depending on your skills and experience
  • Work 37.5 hours over 4 days
