Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group in Manchester is hiring an OpenShift Operator to manage OpenShift/Kubernetes platform operations across environments, ensuring security, stability and compliance.

You will upgrade, patch, automate, monitor, and respond to incidents, working with engineering and security teams in a hybrid UK setting.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience operating production OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms.
• Solid technical understanding across cluster architecture, networking, storage, ingress, and operators.
• Experience in incident investigation, change execution, and working within governed environments.
• Ability to automate and standardise operational tasks using scripting or tooling.
• Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, alerting) and operational data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on identifying root cause and improving reliability.
• Effective collaboration and communication in Agile delivery environments.
• Experience working in Agile environments, using Jira.

Responsibilities

• Operate OpenShift clusters across environments in accordance with defined platform standards, controls, and support models.
• Execute upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities with appropriate validation, rollback, and recovery controls.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Build and improve automation, scripting, and operational tooling to reduce manual effort and increase consistency.
• Implement and maintain observability (monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards) to support proactive operations.
• Operate platform security controls (RBAC, service accounts, certificates, secrets) in line with defined policies.
• Maintain and improve operational documentation, including runbooks and procedures.
• Participate in a structured on-call rota, providing out-of-hours support across evenings and weekends to ensure continuous 24/7 service coverage.
