Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group in Manchester, Leeds or Edinburgh is seeking an OpenShift Operator to manage and improve the Bank's enterprise OpenShift platform, ensuring a secure, resilient, and scalable hosting environment for critical services.

You will operate clusters, perform upgrades, investigate incidents, automate tasks with scripting, and collaborate across engineering, security, and operations to keep services available and compliant.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience operating production OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms.
• Solid understanding across cluster architecture, networking, storage, ingress, and operators.
• Experience in incident investigation, change execution, and working within governed environments.
• Ability to automate operational tasks using scripting or tooling.
• Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, alerting) and operational data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills with focus on root cause and reliability.
• Effective collaboration and communication in Agile delivery environments.
• Experience working in Agile environments, using Jira.

Responsibilities

• Operate OpenShift clusters across environments in accordance with platform standards and controls.
• Execute upgrades, patching, and maintenance with validation, rollback, and recovery controls.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement permanent fixes.
• Build and improve automation, scripting, and operational tooling.
• Implement and maintain observability (monitoring, logging, dashboards) for proactive operations.
• Operate platform security controls (RBAC, certificates, secrets) per policy.
• Maintain and improve runbooks and procedures.
• Participate in a structured on-call rota for out-of-hours support.
