Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking an OpenShift Operator to operate production OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms, maintaining stability and security across environments. The role covers incident handling, platform upgrades, and proactive automation within a hybrid work setup in the UK.

You will collaborate with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable services, implement changes, and contribute to enterprise standards, with weekly on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating production OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms.
• Strong understanding of cluster architecture, networking, storage, ingress, and operators.
• Experience in incident investigation, change execution, and governed environments.
• Ability to automate and standardise operational tasks using scripting or tooling.
• Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, alerting) and data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving focusing on root cause and reliability.
• Effective collaboration in Agile delivery environments, including Jira usage.

Responsibilities

• Operate OpenShift clusters across environments per platform standards and support models.
• Perform upgrades, patching, and maintenance with validation, rollback, and recovery controls.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement permanent fixes.
• Build automation and tooling to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
• Implement and maintain observability (monitoring, logging, dashboards) for proactive ops.
• Manage platform security controls (RBAC, service accounts, certificates, secrets).
• Maintain runbooks and operational documentation.
• Participate in structured on-call rota for out-of-hours support.
