Job summary

CDW UK is seeking an experienced Onsite Hardware Engineer in Southampton for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will maintain, diagnose and repair enterprise server hardware, focusing on HP ProLiant platforms and Dell PowerEdge servers in a high-availability environment.

This hands-on role involves fault finding, hardware upgrades, break-fix work and documenting activities while collaborating with customer teams to ensure service continuity throughout a technology refresh programme.

Qualifications

• Experience in hardware engineering, server engineering or infrastructure support.
• Hands-on support and repair of HP ProLiant servers (Gen10/Gen10 Plus/Gen11) and Dell PowerEdge hardware.
• Strong fault diagnosis and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Experience replacing motherboards, CPUs, RAM, RAID controllers, power supplies, storage and NICs.
• Comfortable in business-critical or high-availability environments.
• Strong communication and proactive problem-solving.

Onsite Hardware Engineer, Southampton, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for an experienced Onsite Hardware Engineer to support critical IT infrastructure within a highly secure and operationally important environment in Southampton.

This hands-on role focuses on maintaining, diagnosing and repairing enterprise server hardware, primarily modern HP ProLiant platforms alongside Dell server infrastructure, helping to maintain system availability and performance.

As part of a wider technology refresh programme, you will also gain experience supporting legacy hardware during a planned transition period. The role suits someone who enjoys fault-finding, hardware repair and working directly with physical infrastructure rather than software or application support.

• Strong fault diagnosis and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Experience replacing motherboards, CPUs, memory, RAID controllers, power supplies, storage devices and network interface cards.
• Comfortable working in business-critical or high-availability environments.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
