Job summary

ERM seeks a Principal Consultant – Onshore Post-Consent Compliance Manager to lead the delivery of post-consent environmental compliance across major infrastructure projects in the UK. You will guide the transition from consent to construction, manage commitments and regulatory obligations, and mentor junior team members.

The role spans sectors including electricity transmission, renewable energy, hydrogen, solar and onshore wind, with a focus on risk management and regulator engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental consent management or post-consent compliance on UK/infrastructure projects.
• Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Geography, Ecology, Engineering or Law.
• Strong understanding of UK planning and consenting regimes (DCOs, Town and Country Planning Act, Electricity Act).
• Experience preparing compliance reports, consent submissions and regulatory correspondence.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead post-consent compliance and consent management on major infrastructure projects from consent through construction.
• Develop and implement consent management and compliance strategies to support project delivery.
• Establish and maintain registers of consents, commitments and obligations.
• Oversee consent compliance processes and ensure teams fulfil environmental commitments.
• Coordinate discharge of consent requirements and planning conditions; liaise with regulators and clients.
