Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant – Onshore Consents Manager to lead post-consent environmental compliance for major infrastructure projects in the UK. You will manage consent requirements, regulatory obligations, and environmental commitments while guiding multidisciplinary teams and engaging regulators and clients.

As a senior member, you will deliver strategic advice, drive compliance delivery, and support growth of ERM’s post-consent services across sectors including energy transmission,

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental consent management on major infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to discharge consent requirements, planning conditions and commitments.
• Strong stakeholder management with regulators, clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental consents and post-consent compliance activities from consent through construction.
• Develop and implement consent management strategies to reduce environmental and regulatory risk.
• Maintain comprehensive registers of consents, commitments and obligations.
• Oversee preparation and submission of discharge applications and related regulatory correspondence.
• Act as primary point of contact for consent and compliance queries from project teams and regulators.
• Coordinate liaison with planning authorities, Environment Agency and other statutory bodies.
• Support and lead environmental compliance audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.
• Prepare clear reports on compliance status and risks for clients and senior leadership.
• Collaborate with engineering, planning, legal and construction teams to integrate consent requirements into delivery.
• Support business development through proposals, client engagement and thought leadership.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative culture.
