Job summary

NET Recruit seeks an experienced Technical Support Engineer to join a well-established engineering business delivering cooling, heating, and temperature control solutions across industries. The role focuses on diagnosing faults, supporting service engineers, and ensuring safe, reliable equipment performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical/electrical knowledge, excellent fault-finding skills, and a customer-focused approach, with on-site and remote support capabilities.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of cooling, refrigeration, HVAC, heat pump, or temperature control systems.
• Experience providing technical support within an engineering or industrial environment.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills with methodical diagnosis.
• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent organisation to manage multiple priorities.
• Customer-focused approach and collaboration.
• Experience with MS Office and service management systems.
• Proactive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Providing day-to-day technical support to service engineers, sales teams, operational departments, and customers.
• Diagnosing and resolving technical faults relating to cooling, refrigeration, HVAC, heating, and temperature control systems.
• Supporting troubleshooting remotely and on-site.
• Interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, specifications, and engineering documents.
• Advising on installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of engineering equipment.
• Assisting with equipment selection to meet customer requirements and objectives.
• Assisting with technical reviews of project specs and customer applications.
• Providing technical support during commissioning, servicing, start-up, and breakdown investigations.
• Carrying out root cause analysis on equipment failures and recommending corrective actions.
• Preparing technical documentation and maintaining records of investigations and improvements.
• Collaborating with engineering, service, projects, sales, and operations teams to deliver solutions.
• Supporting training and development of colleagues and sharing best practices.
• Monitoring industry developments and engineering standards to support innovation.
• Ensuring work complies with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
