Job summary

The Diocese of Chelmsford is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused IT & Systems Support Officer to provide first-line support for our business systems and technology infrastructure. This role involves assisting staff with database usage, training, and day-to-day IT operations across the organisation.

You will work with colleagues and our external IT support provider to diagnose issues, deliver user-focused guidance, and keep systems running smoothly in a busy office environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting business systems or databases in a user-facing role.
• Experience troubleshooting applications or system issues and collaborating to resolve them.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly.
• Calm, methodical approach to problem-solving in time-pressured situations (e.g. meetings).
• Friendly, approachable and service-oriented with a genuine wish to help colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide first line functional support for the Diocese’s core database (DMS) and other databases.
• Deliver informal and structured training to users on database systems and reporting tools.
• Coordinate with reception staff to ensure IT readiness of equipment and rapid issue response.
• Act as on-site point of contact for IT issues escalated by the outsourced provider, Virtual IT.
• Support equipment and systems not managed by Virtual IT including phone system (8x8), Nitro signing, mobiles and printers.
