Job summary

Principal IT is supporting a client in the UK automotive industry by recruiting an IT Specialist to join their Chelmsford team. The role covers hands-on IT support, infrastructure and security across the organisation, with responsibilities for IT projects and user training.

You will work closely with the business to keep systems secure, reliable and efficient, implement new IT solutions, and maintain documentation and security standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in IT Support, IT Systems, Infrastructure or a similar role.
• Strong Microsoft 365, Windows and Active Directory knowledge.
• Good understanding of networking and infrastructure.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection and Cyber Essentials.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to support non-technical users.
• Organised, proactive and comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on IT support and troubleshooting.
• Set up and maintain hardware, software and user accounts.
• Manage Microsoft 365, Windows and Active Directory.
• Maintain networks, switches, firewalls, VPNs and wireless infrastructure.
• Support system upgrades, installations and migrations.
• Research, test and implement new software and IT solutions.
• Support IT projects, system changes and user training.
• Maintain IT documentation and security standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
