Job summary

Recruiterwise is seeking a Calibration Engineer (site based) in Leeds to calibrate, verify and support medical simulators at a customer site. You will ensure accuracy, safety and compliance with ISO standards and procedures, working with the customer’s lab, engineering and quality teams.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role requiring strong technical ability, attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and reports.

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in mechanical, electrical, electronic, mechatronic or instrumentation engineering, ideally at apprenticeship, HNC/HND or degree level.
• Experience calibrating/servicing/maintaining equipment.
• Experience using measurement and calibration equipment.
• Understanding of measurement accuracy, tolerances, repeatability and traceability.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience producing calibration records or reports.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic records systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and scheduled calibration of medical simulators and measurement systems.
• Calibrate and verify parameters such as load, torque, displacement, position, temperature, flow and speed.
• Ensure calibration activities are undertaken using traceable reference equipment.
• Complete calibration work in accordance with ISO, ASTM and other relevant standards.
• Interpret calibration results and determine whether equipment meets tolerances.
• Make mechanical, electrical or software adjustments where equipment falls outside specification.
• Complete post-calibration checks to confirm correct and reliable operation.
• Maintain accurate and fully traceable calibration records and certificates.
• Monitor calibration schedules and ensure equipment is calibrated within the required timescales.
• Identify equipment outside specification and follow non-conformance and escalation processes.
