Job summary

Warwick College Group is seeking a Specialist Learning Mentor to support identified students in classrooms, workshops and 1:1 sessions. You will record progress, assist with EHCP targets, and collaborate with tutors to monitor student achievement, within a safeguarding oriented environment.

Based in Leamington Spa, the role requires a DBS check and regulatory safeguarding compliance. Salary is pro rata to remaining academic year months, with a start in September.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate English and Maths skills equivalent to Level 2.
• A qualification relevant to Specific Learning Difficulties at Level 2 or above.
• Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications, including assistive technologies.
• Previous experience of supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition.
• Experience of liaison, advocacy and collaborative working.
• Experience in working with learners on a 1-2-1 basis.
• Experience of coaching and motivating learners of different ages and abilities.
• Knowledge of Educational Health and Care Plans and the SEND Code of Practice (2014).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 in-class or mentoring support as directed by SEN Team Leader/ASC Specialist Support Lead.
• Assist the class lecturer with materials preparation/adaptation for named student.
• Promote independent learning, including use of technologies.
• Be a key worker for designated student to achieve EHCP outcomes.
• Support EHCP Annual Review Process.
• Monitor and review individual student targets with tutor/Advisor.
• Contact parents with permission when appropriate.
• Attend Academy and Inclusion Team meetings.
• Undertake training including Team Teach.
• Support student during work experience placements or trips.
• Maintain records and ProMonitor progress reviews.
• Collaborate with staff to produce Risk Assessments and medical protocols.
