Palmer & Co in Glasgow is seeking an Office Manager to lead the office function and support the Managing Director. You will line manage administrators, own onboarding and HR records, drive compliance, and ensure smooth daily operations with a clear, proactive approach.

Office Manager
Palmer & Co
Glasgow (Office-based)
£32,000 - £38,000 per annum
Have you led an office team and kept a busy business running smoothly behind the scenes? Are you the person a Managing Director relies on to turn priorities into action? Are you looking for an Office Manager role where you can lead, improve and make a real impact in a growing business?
This role could be for you.
They have been operating in Scotland since 1932, and the business looks nothing like it did when it started. Today we run an access platform fleet that includes truck-mounted platforms up to 70 metres, rope access teams, and contracts that range from commercial window cleaning PPM programmes to inspections and other work at height maintenance tasks. We are family-run, we are growing, and the last 18 months have seen some of the most significant capital investment in our history.
This is a leadership role first. You will be the Managing Director's right hand for the running of the office and the people in it - turning priorities into clear plans, meeting weekly to agree what matters, and giving an honest monthly view of what is working, what is not and what needs a decision. You will line manage the Business Support Administrators, set clear standards, and deal with performance, attendance and conduct promptly and fairly. You will own onboarding and offboarding end to end, HR admin and employee records, and act as the named administrator for Big Change and Bright HR. Compliance sits with you too - GDPR, Right to Work checks, audits and business continuity.
You will attend Senior Leadership Team meetings and represent the office function in decisions that shape the business. As Palmer & Co grows, you will drive better processes, systems and employee experience, and build a team that scales with us. If you want real influence rather than just a job title, the platform is here.
You will work most closely with the Managing Director, alongside the Group Operations & Finance Manager, Operations Manager, Scheduler, Account Manager, Health & Safety Manager and the wider Senior Leadership Team. We're not a big corporate - everyone plays a role, and the work you do is visible. You will be supported and also relied upon.
