Job summary

Reed is seeking a Finance Manager/Company Accountant for a permanent, office-based role in Clacton-on-Sea. Reporting to the CFO, you will own core accounting and reporting activities within a growing business.

This hands-on position covers monthly management accounts, month-end close, audits, controls, and financial reporting. You will work with the senior leadership team to drive improvements and accurate information across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' accounting experience in a commercial environment.
• Part-qualified or fully qualified with ACA/ACCA/CIMA, or QBE.
• Strong experience preparing monthly management accounts.
• Thorough understanding of month-end and year-end processes.
• Experience supporting external audits and liaising with auditors.
• Excellent organisational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels.
• Proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities.
• Continuous improvement mindset to add value beyond routine reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
• Manage month-end close, accruals, prepayments, journals, and reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed asset register.
• Support year-end reporting and statutory accounts.
• Coordinate external audits and be the primary auditor contact.
• Review, enhance, and implement financial controls and reporting procedures.
• Oversee daily finance operations and support the wider team.
• Ensure reporting deadlines are met with timely, accurate information.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across the finance function.
