Job summary

Tall Grass Recruitment is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator for a hybrid role in Dagenham. You will manage ocean-import shipments from initial booking through to final delivery, handling both FCL and LCL consignments and liaising with customers, shipping lines, overseas agents and internal departments.

You must be proficient with CargoWise and have at least two years of ocean-import experience in freight forwarding.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' ocean-import experience within freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end ocean-import operations.
• Experience handling FCL and LCL shipments.
• Confident using CargoWise.
• Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational ability.
• Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
• Works well independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage ocean-import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
• Handle both FCL and LCL consignments.
• Liaise with customers, shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and internal departments.
• Monitor vessel schedules, arrivals and shipment milestones.
• Provide customers with regular and proactive shipment updates.
• Arrange customs-clearance instructions and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate container collections and final deliveries.
• Manage Bills of Lading, arrival notices and import documentation.
• Obtain rates and prepare customer quotations.
• Process supplier invoices and raise customer invoices.
• Resolve delays, documentation issues and operational queries.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment records within CargoWise.
• Deliver a consistently high level of customer service.

Ocean Import Operator - HYBRID WORKING

Location: Dagenham

Salary: £35,000 per annum, with an increase following successful completion of probation

Working arrangement: Hybrid

Position: Permanent, full-time

An established and growing freight-forwarding business is looking for an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join its team in Dagenham.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years' ocean-import experience who can manage shipments confidently from initial booking through to final delivery. Previous experience using CargoWise is essential.
