Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior (band 6) Occupational Therapist to join one of our in‑patient therapy teams at Arrowe Park Hospital. The team has a shared therapy office and works with the care of the elderly consultants and nursing teams for the benefit of the patients. They support activities such as bingo, discos and mocktail events to prevent deconditioning and provide community‑based Home First service and other rehabilitation services.

There are opportunities to engage in training and development, innovative practice and service development. The service also supports student training and apprenticeships.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat own caseload of patients/clients in a speciality and maintain associated records.
  • Have a responsibility for Training & Development of occupational therapy staff, students and other staff groups in this speciality. Supervise less experienced occupational therapists, assistants, apprentices and students.
  • Participate as a member of the therapy team and the MDT within a specified clinical area.
  • Have own responsibility for CPD and other developmental activities.
  • Involvement in identifying and carrying out departmental audit, research or service development activity.
  • Participate in providing 7‑day services and extended working day, as required by the service. Some services work on extended hours rotas between 8 am and 8 pm.
Additional Requirements

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role. The Trust will pay for the DBS check and the cost will be deducted from salary over a period of 3 months.
