Job description

We are recruiting for a passionate and experienced Nurture Teacher to work with pupils across KS2 and KS3 within a specialist educational setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working with children and young people who benefit from a more individualised and nurturing approach to education. The role will focus on creating a safe, structured and engaging learning environment where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As a Nurture Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated learning across KS2 and KS3.
  • Adapt teaching to meet a range of individual learning, SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Create a calm, consistent and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support pupils who may have experienced barriers to engaging successfully with education.
  • Encourage the development of confidence, resilience, independence and positive learning behaviours.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting support where required.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals.
  • Use positive and consistent behaviour-support strategies.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching pupils within KS2 and/or KS3.
  • Has an understanding of SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Is confident differentiating and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Has a calm, patient and nurturing approach.
  • Can build strong and consistent relationships with children and young people.
  • Is resilient, adaptable and confident working within a specialist environment.
  • Is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

Previous experience within a specialist SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or nurture setting would be beneficial, although applications are welcomed from teachers with transferable mainstream experience and a genuine interest in specialist education.
