Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Oxford is seeking a Band 2 Nursing Assistant to support registered nurses in caring for patients after cardiothoracic surgery. You will provide personal care, assist mobility, and help keep the ward safe, clean and well stocked.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and benefit from an induction programme and education opportunities to develop your skills and career within a large NHS foundation trust.

Nursing Assistants are vital in supporting registered nurses in caring for patients post cardiothoracic surgery. This busy working environment also offers many opportunities for training, learning new skills and personal and professional development., The Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit has vacancies for a Band 2 Nursing Assistant to join this dynamic team and to work in an exciting environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has the desire to care for our patients to the highest standards and to treat our patients with the respect and dignity. You will work closely with the registered nurses to deliver high standards of nursing care. Desirable criteria

• Evidence of Level 2 Diploma or Apprenticeship in Health related subject or willing to work towards
• Evidence of the Care Certificate and understanding of the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers and Adult Social care workers in England., Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
• Able to deliver a high standard of care for patients and always striving to improve on what you do through change and innovation.
• Able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Appreciates and accepts individual team members bring a range of different skills and experience
• Able to undertake specific procedures involving physical skills and prolonged moderate physical exertion commensurate with practice area and level of competence.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of the NHS and /or health care requirements
• Knowledge of personal care and related procedures, Excellent communication skills.
• Evidence of working in a busy and variable environment
• Flexible approach to shift patterns and unit needs which may involve working in different areas or cross site working
• Able to effectively and appropriately elevate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety.
• Able to use initiative within the boundaries of the role

• Ability to act on own initiative and able to motivate oneself, Demonstrate understanding of confidentiality
• Demonstrate insight into role applied for.
• To be willing to learn new skills and to undertake the Care Certificate in the agreed timescales when new to role
