Job summary

Job description

Full training will be provided; previous experience as a Nursing Assistant or Healthcare Support Worker is not required.

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will assist registered nurses in the delivery of planned care within the dialysis unit. Working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, you will help meet the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients receiving haemodialysis treatment.

You will undertake a structured training programme and work under the supervision of an assigned mentor to develop the knowledge and skills required for the role, demonstrating competence against the relevant standards and competencies., As a member of the team, the Nursing Assistant must be able to prioritise and contribute to the delivery of high standards of care for patients, their families, and carers within a safe and supportive environment, under the direction of a registered practitioner.

As part of the wider multidisciplinary team, the Nursing Assistant will assist in the development and maintenance of services provided to patients and contribute to the safe, efficient, and smooth running of the ward, clinical area, or department.

The post holder will maintain the dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of all patients, their families, and carers at all times, ensuring that their rights are respected and upheld in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards.

Haemodialysis is a fast-paced and demanding environment that involves caring for patients with chronic kidney disease who require regular outpatient treatment. Previous experience as a Healthcare Support Worker is desirable but not essential. However, candidates should enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team and be motivated to learn new skills.

In addition, applicants should be able to demonstrate basic patient assessment skills and possess the ability to prioritise and organise their own workload effectively.

This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week.
