Job summary

Zero2Five is partnered with a fantastic early years provider in London to recruit a Room Leader for the E3 area. You’ll lead your room, mentor practitioners and ensure an outstanding learning environment in line with the EYFS. The role offers structured support, ongoing training and genuine progression opportunities.

Salary up to £34,000 per annum, full-time hours, and a friendly, collaborative team as you develop leadership skills and positively impact children’s development.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Early Years qualification is required.
• Experience working with children aged 0–5 years.
• DBS Update Service is enhanced and preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support your room team daily.
• Plan and deliver engaging activities in line with EYFS.
• Manage the daily routine to maintain a calm, safe room.
• Mentor junior practitioners and apprentices.
• Act as Key Person and build relationships with children and families.
• Complete observations, assessments and next steps using Famly.
• Support 2-year progress checks and transition reports.
• Identify and support children with additional needs alongside the SENCO.
• Build positive relationships with parents and communicate progress.
• Lead or contribute to room meetings and planning.
• Maintain safeguarding and health and safety standards.
• Complete daily risk assessments and ensure the learning environment is stimulating.

The Role

As Room Leader, you’ll take ownership of your room, leading your team and ensuring children receive the highest standard of care, learning and development.

You will:

• Lead, motivate and support your room team on a daily basis.

• Manage the daily routine, ensuring a calm, safe and well-organised room.
• Mentor and support junior practitioners and apprentices.
• Act as Key Person and build strong relationships with children and families.
• Complete observations, assessments and children's next steps using Famly.
• Support 2-year progress checks and transition reports.
• Identify and support children with additional needs alongside the SENCO.
• Build positive relationships with parents and communicate children's progress.
• Lead or contribute to room meetings and planning sessions.
• Maintain excellent safeguarding, health and safety standards.
• Complete daily risk assessments and ensure the learning environment is safe and stimulating.

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 Early Years qualification – full and relevant
• Experience working with children aged 0–5
• For the Baby Unit, experience with children aged 0–2 is required
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework
• Experience leading, mentoring or supporting other practitioners
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• Paediatric First Aid certificate
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for providing outstanding early years experiences
