Job summary

WMC Training is seeking a dedicated Nursery Practitioner for our Southbourne (PO10) setting. You will work with children aged 0-5, support staff, and contribute to the EYFS framework. Prior nursery experience is essential and you should be motivated to pursue further childcare qualifications.

The role emphasizes collaboration, proactive learning, and delivering enriching activities within a supportive team. Training opportunities will be provided to progress to higher lead practitioner levels.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of curriculum and practice in the setting.
  • Plan and provide age-appropriate play in line with EYFS.
  • Observe, assess and record children’s learning and development.
  • Maintain safeguarding, health, hygiene and safety standards.
  • Build positive relationships with parents/carers.
  • Attend team meetings and training as required.

Have you completed your LV2 OR LV3 Early Years Apprenticeship but striving to further your career?

WMC Training is seeking a dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join the professional, rewarding, and supportive team at Southbourne(PO10). The ideal candidate will bring previous experience working with children, a genuine interest in developing the talent of younger generations, and a strong desire to make a difference in children's lives. MUST have experience working at the nursery setting before. You will be a collaborative team member, equally capable of taking initiative, and adept at planning enriching activities.

DUTIES
  • To support fellow educators/practitioners to deliver the setting's curriculum and standard of practice.
  • To work towards an early years qualification with support from the setting's staff and training provider.
  • To seek support from members of the team to assist your learning.
  • To work closely with children aged 0-5 years old, looking after their daily needs such as feeding, nappy changing and toileting.
  • To work as part of a team to deliver and meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage for all children.
  • To plan, provide and support age-appropriate play opportunities in line with the curriculum and individual needs of the children in your care.
  • To ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children in your care.
  • To observe, assess and record children's learning and development progress.
  • Provide an enabling environment that meets the needs of each unique individual child.
  • To build and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers.
  • To adhere to and follow the setting's policies and procedures.
  • To attend regular team meetings.
  • To ensure standards of health and safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
  • To attend additional training events and meetings as identified by the Setting Manager for training requirements.
  • To liaise and work in partnership with external agencies (both statutory and voluntary) to support children within the setting as appropriate.
  • To undertake any other duties as deemed necessary by the Setting Manager.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have prior nursery experience
  • Willing to learn a qualification
  • Ability to write clear objective observation
  • Commitment to complete a childcare qualification
