Job summary

Merrydale Infant School is seeking a caring Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our nursery for two-year-olds on a temporary basis, 20 hours per week. The role is on-site in Leicester Forest East and offers opportunities to support early learning in a nurturing environment.

You will assist with play-based learning, prepare activities, support children's personal care, and work closely with our nursery team to promote safeguarding and development during this important early stage.

Qualifications

• DfE-approved Level 2 EY qualification enabling EYFS ratios.
• GCSEs including English and Maths (grade C/4 or above).
• Experience with young children, preferably two-year-olds.
• Understanding of EYFS and play-based learning.
• Good communication, teamwork and safeguarding commitment; Paediatric First Aid or willingness to complete within three months.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for two-year-olds.
• Support delivery of age-appropriate learning through play.
• Prepare activities, resources and the nursery environment.
• Assist with children's personal care, wellbeing and daily routines.
• Observe learning and share information with the nursery team.
• Foster communication, independence and positive relationships.
• Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
