Job summary

N Family Club is seeking a Flexi Kitchen Assistant for Buckhurst Hill, Essex. The role supports the chef in running a state-of-the-art nursery kitchen, ensuring nutritious meals for children and addressing dietary needs, with opportunities to lead in the chef's absence.

You'll work in a fast-paced nursery kitchen, upholding high hygiene standards and collaborating with the nursery team to deliver a positive, child-centered dining experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a commercial kitchen environment and/or a nursery kitchen.
• Good knowledge of food allergens and child nutrition.
• Ideally, Food Hygiene level 2 qualified (or a willingness to complete during onboarding).
• Passion for food and nutrition.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cooking fresh and inspiring food for children.
• Pot-wash for nursery crockery and equipment; ensure cleanliness and sterilisation.
• Follow nutritionist-designed recipes and menus for vitamins and nutrients.
• Support chef in catering to dietary needs and allergies.
• Adhere to safety policies to prevent cross-contamination; meet nutritional needs.
• Prepare daily lunch and smoothie for nursery team with dietary considerations.
• Complete kitchen paperwork and Daily Due Diligence Diary; maintain Cleaning Schedule.
• Manage weekly food orders and stock rotation with suppliers.
• Cover and lead kitchen in chef's absence.
• Build strong relationships with nursery team, children and parents.
