Job summary

WMC Training in Cheam (SM3) is seeking a Nursery apprentice to join a supportive team dedicated to early years development. The role focuses on hands-on learning with children aged 0-5, under guidance while working toward a childcare qualification.

The successful candidate will have nursery experience and a proactive approach to learning, collaborating with staff and parents to support each child’s development and well-being.

Qualifications

• Must have prior nursery experience.
• Willing to learn a qualification.
• Ability to write clear objective observations.
• Commitment to complete a childcare qualification.

Responsibilities

• Support fellow educators to deliver the setting’s curriculum and standard of practice.
• To work towards an early years qualification with support from the setting’s staff and training provider.
• To seek support from team members to assist your learning.
• Look after children aged 0-5 years, including feeding, nappy changing and toileting.
• Work as part of a team to deliver and meet the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.
• Plan and provide age-appropriate play opportunities aligned with the curriculum and children's needs.
• Ensure safeguarding and welfare of all children in your care.
• Observe, assess and record children's learning progress.
• Provide an enabling environment meeting each child's needs.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers.
• Adhere to the setting’s policies and procedures.
• Attend regular team meetings.
• Maintain health, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
• Attend additional training as required by the Setting Manager.
• Liaise with external agencies to support children as appropriate.
• Undertake other duties as deemed necessary by the Setting Manager

The ideal candidate will bring previous experience working with children ,a genuine interest in developing the talent of younger generations, and a strong desire to make a difference in children's lives.

MUST have experience working at the nursery setting before . You will be a collaborative team member, equally capable of taking initiative, and adept at planning enriching activities.

DUTIES

1. To support fellow educators/practitioners to deliver the setting’s curriculum and standard of practice.

4. To work closely with children aged 0-5 years old, looking after their daily needs such as feeding, nappy changing and toileting.
5. To work as part of a team to deliver and meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage for all children.
6. To plan, provide and support age-appropriate play opportunities in line with the curriculum and individual needs of the children in your care.
7. To ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children in your care.
8. To observe, assess and record children's learning and development progress.
9. Provide an enabling environment that meets the needs of each unique individual child.
10. To build and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers.
11. To adhere to and follow the setting’s policies and procedures.
12. To attend regular team meetings.
13. To ensure standards of health and safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
14. To attend additional training events and meetings as identified by the Setting Manager for training requirements.
15. To liaise and work in partnership with external agencies (both statutory and voluntary) to support children within the setting as appropriate.
