Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Nuclear Welder Trainer to develop and deliver welding training for personnel supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet at HMNB Clyde Faslane. You will assess welders, provide technical guidance, and ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards.

The role includes delivering hands‑on training across TIG, MMA, MIG/MAG and FCAW, maintaining records, and working in a high‑integrity environment with hybrid working and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong background in welding, inspection, or fabrication within nuclear, defence, or shipbuilding environments.
• Practical experience across multiple welding processes (e.g., TIG, MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW).
• Experience conducting technical training, mentoring, or competency assessment.
• In‑depth understanding of welding standards, processes, and inspection techniques.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical welding training across a range of processes and materials.
• Assess and qualify welders in line with nuclear and defence standards.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections before and after weld operations.
• Provide technical guidance on welding procedures, defects, and safe working practices.
• Maintain accurate records of training, qualifications, and compliance activities.
