Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear offers an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in Leicester starting Sep 2027. Over four years you will rotate through multiple engineering placements, gaining hands-on experience in PLCs, SCADA, reactor protection and radiological monitoring while studying towards a Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Degree.

You will be supported by mentors, complete a MSc-equivalent degree through the University of Derby, and progress toward

Qualifications

• GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including Maths, English and Science.
• A Levels including Maths and Physics or another STEM subject at grade C or better.
• BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering including Maths units (DMM).
• Access Course: 104 points with 15 Level 3 credits in Maths/Physics or STEM at Merit.
• IB Diploma: 104 points with Maths/Physics at Higher Level (HL6).
• T Level: Merit including Maths and Physics.
• IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5.

Responsibilities

• Be part of shaping the UK's nuclear future through hands-on engineering placements.
• Rotate through 6-month placements across Cavendish Nuclear areas to build a well-rounded skillset.
• Develop understanding of control systems, PLCs, SCADA, reactor protection and radiological monitoring equipment.
• Work with mentors to build confidence, communication and technical skills throughout the four-year programme.
