Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear is offering a four-year Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in Leicester for school leavers seeking a BEng (Hons) in Nuclear Engineering. You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full engineering lifecycle, including design, modelling, calculations, and documentation to national and international standards.

Based at a Leicester site with potential work on projects at Sellafield, you’ll shadow engineers, develop skills, and progress toward professional registration.

Qualifications

• What you’ll need: GCSEs with Maths, English, Science, plus STEM requirements.
• Maths and Physics aptitude suitable for engineering work.
• Interest in CAD, 3D modelling and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Use CAD and 3D modelling to develop design concepts.
• Perform mechanical calculations and produce engineering drawings.
• Prepare equipment specifications and technical reports.
• Support assembly, testing and operational teams with technical guidance.
• Resolve engineering queries and manage nonconformance issues.
